Ahmed joined Mashreq Egypt in February 2021 as Head of Business Banking. Prior to this, he served as Head of Multinationals at HSBC Oman.
Ahmed began his banking career with HSBC in 2002 after earning his bachelor’s degree from the Faculty of Commerce at Cairo University. He held various roles primarily in Investment Banking, where he worked on executing several DCM, ECM, and M&A transactions. In 2010, Ahmed joined the Ministry of Finance as Assistant Adviser to the Minister of Finance. For four years, he was part of the team that successfully managed Egypt’s Eurobond issuances and developed the local Debt Capital Market and Primary Dealers system in collaboration with the World Bank.
Ahmed rejoined HSBC in 2014 within the Large Corporates team, managing a portfolio of strategic large corporate relationships with global and regional footprints and complex financing requirements. In 2017, he moved to HSBC Oman as Head of Multinationals, leading business relationships with top multinational corporations operating in the Oil & Gas, Infrastructure, and Retail sectors.
