Structure cover in Home insurance pays to repair or rebuild a home if it is damaged or destroyed by fire, hurricane, hail, lightning or other disasters listed in the policy.

Items (movable & immovable) which are essential for living in a home is mentioned as content. For example - Furniture, Fixtures. Home appliances, clothes, sports equipment etc can be termed as content. Kitchenware, utensil & crockery items are covered in content too. Any of the content items are covered if they are stolen or destroyed by fire, hurricane or other insured disasters.

Personal belonging means the items/articles which are considered to have high monetary worth, for example laptop, smart phone, play station or may be jewelry items. The advantage of buying a personal belonging insurance is off-premise coverage, means your personal belongings are safe even if you are travelling worldwide This means that belongings are covered anywhere in the world. Expensive items like jewelry, furs and silverware are also covered, but there are usually AED limits (unless specified in policy) if they are stolen.

Yes, you can buy. But you can only insure the content & personal belonging where the ownership belongs to you. If you are a tenant, you cannot insure the structure since you don’t own it.

Yes, you can buy home insurance to secure your structure, meaning the brick & mortal structure which includes floor, wall, roof etc. However, since the property is rented, the content & personal belongings cannot be insured by you.
