With more than 22 years of experience in banking operations and operations control, Shankar has managed and run several areas within the banking and credit cards back-office streams, specialising in underwriting, mutual funds, funds transfers, depository operations and deposit operations. After a 12-year stint at Citibank India, he set up and ran a multi-location shared service captive for Arab Bank, and later, headed operations for Finance House PJSC in the UAE.

Shankar has a commerce degree from St. Xavier's College, Kolkata, and is a Chartered Accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India, and a Cost and Works Accountant from the Institute of Cost and Work Accountants of India.
